7th ADEWB II Project Steering Committee Meeting and
9th Western Balkan CVO Forum
for Communication and Cooperation
Sutomore, Montenegro, 10-11 December 2025

7th ADEWB II Project Steering Committee Meeting (SCM) and the 9th Western Balkan Chief Veterinary Officers Forum for Communication and Cooperation (WB CVO Forum) took place on 10-11 December 2025 in Sutomore, Montenegro.

The first session of the meeting was dedicated to the 7th Steering Committee Meeting of the ADEWB II Project, where the Project Team presented the progress made during the May – December 2025 reporting period. The session included final updates on project activities.

The second session continued with the 9th WB CVO Forum, which featured panel discussions on Regional coordination framework for harmonized approaches to transboundary animal diseases (TADs) control and response. These discussions addressed EU framework and examples of good practice; Current status in the WB-Challenges in cross-border cooperation and coordination; Contribution to a regional coordination framework for harmonized approaches to TADs control and response; Guidelines and recommendation for sustainable information exchange and cooperation; Key conclusions and proposed actions for regional networking workshops; Road map (non-binding) for post 2025 continuity.

EU provides financial assistance to Western Balkan (WB) countries to support their EU integration process, channelled through the instrumental for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA). This project will support the beneficiary countries to improve the capacities of the national systems and harmonize the EU legislation on national level. Results of this project shall ensure that the beneficiary countries become part of the EU internal market with as few barriers as possible in the near future. The project started in July 2022 and will last until July 2025.
