3rd Western Balkan CVO Forum
for Communication and Cooperation
Budva, MN, 16-17 January 2023

The 3rd Western Balkan CVO Forum for Communication and Cooperation (WB CVO Forum) convened on 16-17 January 2023 in Budva, Montenegro.

The WB CVO Forum was opened by the Chair – Dr Nikolce Babovski who thanked to all colleagues for their cooperation in the previous period. As anticipated, he informed that the chairing in the next six months will be continued by Mr Vladimir Dakovic – the CVO of Montenegro.

Dr Logar highlighted that with the technical support by the ADEWB II Project, countries should continue to work to gradually converge with the EU animal health requirements.

According to Agenda, CVOs of the Western Balkan countries presented in short, current epidemiological situation in their countries and their expectations towards the ADEWB II project.

The presentations continued along with the adopted agenda and may be downloaded with the credentials.

Discussions continued with addresses by the representatives of the EU Delegations in the Western Balkan countries who thanked for the invitation to this PSCM and WB CVO Forum. They all informed on the ongoing national projects.

Mr Vladimir Dakovic proposed that the next Chair of the WB CVO Forum is the Director of the Veterinary Department and CVO of Serbia Dr Milos Petrovic. The CVOs of the Western Balkan countries unanimously agreed with the proposal.

Giving her conclusion remarks, Dr Regina Eberhart thanked to the ADEWB II Project and the Chair of the WB CVO Forum for organizing this meeting and found this third WB CVO Forum successful.

EU provides financial assistance to Western Balkan (WB) countries to support their EU integration process, channelled through the instrumental for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA). This project will support the beneficiary countries to improve the capacities of the national systems and harmonize the EU legislation on national level. Results of this project shall ensure that the beneficiary countries become part of the EU internal market with as few barriers as possible in the near future. The project started in July 2022 and will last until July 2025.
