5th Western Balkan CVO Forum
for Communication and Cooperation
Tirana, AL, 12-13 December 2023
The 5th Western Balkan CVO Forum for Communication and Cooperation (WB CVO Forum) and 3rd ADEWB II Project Steering Committee meeting (SCM), were convened on 12-13 December 2023 in Tirana, Albania.
The meeting was opened by Mr Arian Jaupllari, Deputy Minister of Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of Albania who welcomed the participants.
Dr Barbara Logar – DG SANTE greeted participants and highlighted the importance of coordination of actions in animal disease control.
Dr Sasa Ostojic, greeted the participants on behalf of the recent chair of the WB CVO Forum – Dr Milos Petrovic, CVO of Serbia and thanked to all colleagues for their cooperation in the previous period. The chairing of the WB CVO Forum continued by Dr Ali Lilo, the acting Director of Directorate of Veterinary Policy in the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and CVO of Albania.
The ADEWB II Project Team shared progress and the upcoming work plan during the reporting period.
According to the Agenda, CVOs of the Western Balkan countries presented updates on updates on regional cooperation, discussions on alignment with EU Animal Health Law, disease control efforts with a focus on African Swine Fever (ASF), updates on rabies and biosecurity measures, and a general progress report on various aspects of the Western Balkan CVO Forum.
The presentations continued along with the adopted agenda and may be downloaded with the credentials.
Kosovo was confirmed as the next chair.
Hungary extended an invitation to Western Balkan CVOs for the EU CVO meeting in Budapest.
