4th Western Balkan CVO Forum
for Communication and Cooperation
Niš, RS, 22-23 June 2023
The 4th Western Balkan CVO Forum for Communication and Cooperation (WB CVO Forum) convened on 22-23 June 2023 in Niš, Serbia.
The meeting was opened by the Chair of the SCM, Dr Barbara Logar – DG SANTE who greeted the members and Dr Budimir Plavsic -WOAH Regional Representative who also greeted the members.
The ADEWB II Project Team presented the progress with the project activities within the period from November 2022 to April 2023, and the work plan for the next six-month period.
On behalf of the Chair of the WB CVO Forum Mr Vladimir Djakovic-CVO of Montenegro, the meeting was opened by Dr Mevlida Hrapovic who thanked to all colleagues for their cooperation in the previous period. The chairing of the WB CVO Forum continued by Dr Milos Petrovic, the CVO of Serbia.
According to Agenda, CVOs of the Western Balkan countries presented in short, current epidemiological situation in their countries and their expectations towards the ADEWB II project.
The main topics presented on the meeting were: Animal Health Legislation-Transposition of Animal Health Law; ASF and CSF surveillance in WB countries; Cooperation with other ongoing projects in the WB; Summary of the activities on surveillance in WB for category A diseases; HPAI: Global and regional challenges, positions of the WOAH and activities under GF-TADs in Europe region; Informal CVO meetings of Baltic countries – an example of practical collaboration; New development on EU legislation on ASF; Experience for control/eradication of ASF in North Macedonia; organization and Management of ASF surveillance and control in Serbia.
The presentations continued along with the adopted agenda and may be downloaded with the credentials.
Visit to Veterinary Specialist Institute Nis was organised.
The Chair of the WB CVO Forum proposed that the next chairing with the Forum is with Albanian CVO, Dr Keti Margariti. It is therefore foreseen that the next WB CVO Forum will be held in Albania in duly agreed time in December 2023. ADEWB II Project Team will contact the Albanian CVO to confirm due to the fact that representatives from Albania were not present at the meeting in Nis.
Giving her conclusion remarks, Dr Barbara Logar thanked to the ADEWB II Project and the Chair of the WB CVO Forum for organizing this meeting and found this forth WB CVO Forum successful.
