Strengthening regional laboratory cooperation, 04-05 September 2025, Skopje, North Macedonia

As part of the ADEWB II project, a workshop on Further develop and maintain the regional laboratory network was held on 04-05 September 2025 at Hotel Panoramika, Skopje.

The workshop targeted National Reference Laboratories (NRLs) from the Western Balkans, with the aim of strengthening their cooperation with European Union Reference Laboratories (EURLs) and supporting alignment with EU animal health standards.

Workshop – Organisation of Competent Authorities in compliance with Official Control Regulation (EU) 2017/625 (OCR), Pristina, KO, 15-16 May 2025.

According to the project work plan, Activity A2 – Basic structure of the organization of the competent authorities, ADEWB II project organised the Workshop on – Organization of Competent Authorities in compliance with Regulation (EU) 207/625 (OCR), held 15-16 May 2025 in Pristina, Kosovo*1.

The workshop was dedicated for nominated national experts, technical staff of the veterinary competent authorities from beneficiary countries (BCs).

The aim of the workshop was to strengthen the capacity of veterinary competent authorities in implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/625 (OCR), focusing on audit systems, conflict management, staffing models, and interagency collaboration for effective disease outbreak response.

The speaker was Ms Ane Surkole, SNKE on organisation of veterinary service, supported by the ADEWB II Project team.

Workshop Adjustment of the national veterinary legislation to enforce implementation of EU AHL and EU OCR provisions Sutomore, MN, 18 – 19 March 2025

According to the project work plan, ADEWB II project organised the 3rd Workshop on legislation – Adjustment of the national veterinary legislation to enforce implementation of EU AHL and EU OCR provisions, held 18-19 March 2025 in Sutomore, Montenegro.

The workshop was dedicated for technical staff of the veterinary competent authorities from beneficiary countries (BCs), members of the project Expert group on legislation.

The aim of the workshop was to support the beneficiary countries to strengthen their system by understanding relevant legal provisions in national veterinary legislation, crucial for enforcement and implementation of EU AHL and EU OCR provisions, transposed in the legislation of the beneficiary countries and to critically and objectively examine their veterinary legislation with the aim of amending it and adjusting it accordingly.

National Action plans for alignment of relevant EU AHL and OCR legislation by countries were updated. Updated national Action plans and national Reports on assessment of the current legal powers of the veterinary services may be downloaded here with the credentials.

The lecturers were project experts on legislation Dr Žaklin Acinger-Rogić and Dr Martina Rubin, supported by the ADEWB II Project team.

EU provides financial assistance to Western Balkan (WB) countries to support their EU integration process, channelled through the instrumental for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA). This project will support the beneficiary countries to improve the capacities of the national systems and harmonize the EU legislation on national level. Results of this project shall ensure that the beneficiary countries become part of the EU internal market with as few barriers as possible in the near future. The project started in July 2022 and will last until July 2025.
